Champlain’s Black Smoke as registered by name with AKC or Hudson as known by many hunters, friends and family alike was born on January 1, 2011. He originates from Northfield, Minnesota and the famed Tom Dokken’s Oak Ridge Kennels. He comes with an exceptional pedigree and has proven himself to be one of the finest retrievers in Upstate NY!
Hudson is a Full-Time employee at Eastern View Outfitters where he retrieves waterfowl over 100 days each season! Ducks, Canada geese and Snow geese all are common targets during his workday. He has an incredible drive and impressive marking abilities in the field. He can run blind retrieves out to 350 yards with an uncanny ability to always locate the bird. Although he’s one of the finest field dogs he is also a better companion and a loyal house pet.
Hudson pretty much goes everywhere with his Owner Bryce Collins and can be found riding shotgun at all times! He is a gentleman in the house and in public where he often obtains flattering comments on his obedience and overall demeanor. Such so that he was the Ring Bearer in his Owners wedding this past August 8th, 2015 in Lake Placid, NY. Where he sat diligently holding the ring for Captain Bryce Collins and Dr. Marissa Matarrese during their ceremony—a birch bark tree limb, held with a soft mouth. Tied beneath from it was a handmade dog bone with rings attached! He stole the show as always with his custom bow tie and cuff links! I could go on and on but I hope this gives the brief glimpse of the type of Labrador he is!
