First Food 4.18.14 B All mothers know there comes a point when their babies need to start on some solid food. Don’t misunderstand: I know that what mama makes is best for babies. There is also a point in their growth where they simply need more! Today, Jack decided that it was time for my puppies to try something new. He made them something to eat that looks a lot like the stuff the lady puts on pot roast. Jack had to get...
Snuggle puppy time
I’m taking the blog away from Babe tonight. Some of you know me as the lady. We’ve had a tough couple of weeks at work – lots going on and extended hours. That’s ok. We’ve all got to do what we have to do – and I’m thankful that I have a job! Still, we all know what stress feels like. The big difference for me is that, at the end of the day, I come home to a refuge. Parents of small...
Snack Time
Today, Jack was going fishing. I don’t know what fishing is, but it can’t involve birds or he would have taken one of us along. How much fun can it be if it doesn’t involve birds, huh? Anyway, with Jack gone, the lady was in charge. Usually she comes to see us before it gets light but she said she slept in until seven o’clock. I don’t know what that means, either, but I know it was light outside and I sure...

And that’s one of the things I want to talk about today. Look at the size of these puppies! Jack came to put them in that bowl that gives him numbers yesterday. He was pretty excited and laughing while he was writing numbers on that paper. He...
The Great Escape!!!!
It had to happen – and sooner than later. I had mentioned the last time I wrote that the puppies were getting more mobile now that they can see and more likely to explore. And so it was only a question of time before this happened. Let me explain. The lady came to take care of us in the morning, the way she always does. She came in the room and her eyes got very big when she looked in the box. HELLO? Do you see me sitting WAAAAAY...
Curiosity!!!!
Curiosity is supposed to be a quality common to cats – and heaven knows we have some of those around here as well. But cats have nothing on puppies who’ve opened their eyes and are moving around. Now, they can see as well as smell their environment. You see our whelping box has a low opening. I needed that before my puppies were born and it makes it easy for me to get in and out of the box. As the puppies get more curious,...
